Advanced Cancer Care

Chemotherapy Tailored to Cancer Type

Chemotherapy is a primary cancer treatment that uses powerful anti-cancer drugs to kill rapidly dividing cancer cells. At Konkan Cancer & Multispeciality Hospital, we personalize chemotherapy protocols based on the type, stage, grade, and genetic profile of each tumor.

Our oncologists use evidence-based guidelines such as NCCN and ASCO to prescribe the latest drug regimens. Treatments are administered in a sterile, well-monitored chemotherapy suite. For breast cancer, colon cancer, lymphoma, leukemia, lung cancer, and others, different protocols like FOLFOX, CHOP, AC-T, or targeted therapies (e.g., Trastuzumab for HER2+ cancers) are used.

We monitor patient vitals during each session and provide antiemetics, hydration, and nutritional guidance to manage chemotherapy side effects such as nausea, hair loss, fatigue, low immunity, and mucositis. Our team also handles port-a-cath placement, bone marrow monitoring, and chemotherapy-induced neuropathy management.

Radiotherapy with Bhabhatron-II Technology

Radiotherapy (Radiation Therapy) involves using high-energy radiation to kill or shrink cancer cells. We are equipped with Bhabhatron-II, an advanced cobalt-60 based teletherapy machine developed by BARC, India, and used in many reputed cancer centers globally.

Bhabhatron-II provides conformal radiation therapy, enabling precise delivery to tumor sites while minimizing exposure to healthy tissue. It is particularly effective for head & neck cancers, cervical cancer, breast cancer, brain tumors, and prostate cancer.

Our radiation oncologists use 3D Treatment Planning Systems (TPS), CT simulation, and dosimetry calculations to create customized radiation plans for each patient. Fractionated doses ensure better control of the cancer while reducing acute and late radiation side effects like skin burns, fatigue, or fibrosis.

The treatment is painless, non-invasive, and usually completed in multiple short sessions (fractions). We offer concurrent chemoradiation where indicated and regular imaging to assess response.

Surgical Oncology & Long-Term Follow-Up

Surgical oncology is the cornerstone for diagnosing and treating solid tumors. Our hospital performs a wide range of oncological surgeries, including tumor excision, lumpectomy, mastectomy, colectomy, hysterectomy, and debulking surgeries.

Surgeries are performed in modular operation theaters with HEPA filters and advanced anesthesia monitoring. We follow oncoplastic techniques to preserve aesthetics and function, especially in breast and oral cancer surgeries.

Long-term follow-up is critical after surgery. Our protocols include histopathology reports, staging workups, PET/CT imaging, and tumor marker monitoring. Patients are enrolled in regular follow-up schedules for early recurrence detection. We also offer post-operative rehab, pain management, and psychological support.

For cancers like colorectal, breast, thyroid, and ovarian, our team collaborates with medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, pathologists, and palliative care experts to ensure multidisciplinary care.

Screening Camps for Early Detection

Cancer is curable if detected early. Our hospital regularly organizes free and subsidized cancer screening camps in Kudal, Malvan, Sawantwadi, Ratnagiri, and rural Sindhudurg.

We focus on high-risk groups, especially women and older adults, for oral, cervical, breast, and colorectal cancer screenings. Services include clinical breast exams, VIA (Visual Inspection with Acetic Acid) for cervical cancer, Pap smears, Oral cavity inspections, PSA tests for prostate cancer, and FIT for colon cancer.

We also conduct awareness talks, distribute educational brochures in Marathi and English, and provide on-the-spot referrals for suspicious cases. Our screening tools follow WHO guidelines and use evidence-based triaging.

Early diagnosis increases survival and reduces the cost and intensity of treatment. People who are asymptomatic but in high-risk categories (smoking, family history, alcohol, poor diet, HPV exposure) are encouraged to attend.

Binocular Lump & Uterine Cancer Surgeries

We specialize in minimally invasive binocular surgeries (endoscopic-assisted) for the treatment of suspicious breast lumps and uterine tumors. This approach uses advanced optical magnification tools for precision, reducing trauma to surrounding tissues.

For binocular breast lump removal, we perform image-guided excisions that preserve breast shape and reduce scarring. It’s ideal for fibroadenomas, cysts, and small carcinomas. Frozen section analysis can be done intraoperatively if needed.

For uterine cancer, we offer Total Laparoscopic Hysterectomy (TLH) using binocular and laparoscopic integration. These are conducted in air-conditioned operation theaters with advanced monitors and surgical tools. Advantages include shorter hospital stay, less bleeding, and faster return to normal activity.

Our gynec-oncology team works with anesthesiologists, ICU support, and post-op nursing care to ensure smooth recovery. We provide histopathological and immunohistochemistry reporting to guide further treatment.
